It’s Christmas year ’round…

Christmas cactus

I received a Christmas Cactus from my mom a few Christmases ago. The blooms are quite beautiful—to me, reminiscent of an orchid. It generally blooms from December to March, however I may have some sort of Christmas-Easter Cactus hybrid, because mine bloomed again this April.

Now that I’ve started doing more research, I decided to replace the potting soil with quick-draining Miracle-Gro cactus, palm & citrus potting mix and take the cactus outdoors, in a shaded area of the porch. I also learned that it needs to be pruned lightly after flowering. I think it may need a larger pot, but for now, will keep in its original pot.

Here’s an article about caring for your Christmas Cactus.
